Was ist WPT2DTA? WPT2DTA ist ein kleines Tool, um Wegpunkte vom Ozi-Explorer .wpt Format in das .dta Format zu konvertieren, das z.B. von der Software GPS_LOG benutzt wird. Ein Hauptverwendungszweck ist dabei, die Thermik-Quellen aus dem Track2Thermic Projekt (dort im .wpt Format) waehrend eines Fluges auf dem Display eines PDAs (auf dem GPS_LOG laeuft) zu sehen. Installation (Einmalig) Das Tool laesst sich aus einem Zip-File in ein beliebiges Verzeichnis auspacken und laeuft dann dort. Zum Loeschen wird einfach das Verzeichnis geloescht. Es bleiben keine Reste in der Registry. Zip file auspacken Die 4 Symbol-Dateien im Verzeichnis 'symbols' nehmen und in das Programm-Verzeichnis von GPS_LOG schieben, dort wo das Executable liegt (auf dem PocketPC zu finden unter 'My Documents').  Check in der Datei  WPT2DTA.bat: ist der Pfad zum Java-Executable richtig? (Default ist C:\WINDOWS\system32\java.exe, sonst einfach nach java.exe suchen) Benutzung (Jedesmal zum Konvertieren) Kopiere deine *.wpt-Dateien in den Unterordner "waypoints". nun die "WPT2DTA.bat" aufrufen Warten - Fertig: zu jeder wpt-Datei muesste die entsprechende dta-Datei in diesem Verzeichnis vorliegen. Track 2 Thermic Wegpunkte Waehrend des Fluges kann man die Wegpunkte dann auf der Karte sehen. Hier ein Beispiel von Slowenien: (click aufs Bild fuer groessere Ansicht) Wenn man raus-Zoomt, sieht man gut, wo die 'Rennstrecken' der besten Thermik-Quellen laufen Beim Fliegen zoomt man dann ran, und sieht die verschiedenen Thermik-Klassen Um eine Unterscheidung nach Thermikklassen, unterteilt nach moeglichem Hoehengewinn (Laenge des Thermikschlauchs) A-Klasse > 800m B-Klasse 6-800m C-Klasse 3-600m Support Wenn noch Fragen? What is WPT2DTA? WPT2DTA is a small tool to convert Waypoints from the Ozi-Explorer .wpt format into the .dta Format used e.g. by GPS_LOG. The main use for this is the load the Thermic-Waypoints from the Track2Thermic Project (they are in the Ozi .wpt format) onto a PDA to have them available during a flight on your display. Installation (once) The Tools files are simply unzipped to your favorite location. To remove the toll, just delete the directory, thats all. Here are some small additional steps to register nicer symbols for GPS_LOG: unzip the Zip file Take the 4 Symbol-Files in directory 'symbols' and drop them into the program-directory of GPS_LOG (where the executable is) (on the PocketPC under 'My Documents').  Check in file WPT2DTA.bat: is the path to the Java-Executable correct? (Default is C:\WINDOWS\system32\java.exe, if it is not there search for 'java.exe' on your Harddrive) Conversion (everytime) copy your *.wpt-Files in directory "waypoints". then call "WPT2DTA.bat" wait - finished: for every wpt-File there is now a dta-File in this directory. T2T Waypoints During the flight you can now see the promising points for thermals on your display. Here's an Exampleof Slowenien: (click on pic for lager Size) Before the flight, zooming out shows a nice overview of ideal routes to take. While flying, zomm in and navigate to the next promising points. To be able to judge the qualty of the Thermals there are different icons available. Determined by height-gain.
